She's Out of My League (2010)

Title: She's Out of My League
Cast:
Jay BaruchelAlice Eve
Directed By: Jim Field Smith
Running Time: 1hr. 44 min
Genre: Romance | Comedy

I have seen this movie a few times before i decided to write a review. Now this movie is totally a dude flick because every guy can relate to it and its hard for me to understand how a gal would relate to it may be people reading the review can shed some light on it.
Now on to the storyline, Molly (Alice Eve), a beautiful independent woman who gets harassed at the airport by dirty minded employees. Luckily, Kirk (Jay Baruchel), another employee, comes to her rescue. Kirk is an average guy who is skinny, and a bit of a push-over. He's friends rated his physical outlook a 5/10 and Molly, was rated a hard 10. Now after Kirk saves the day for Molly at the airport, Molly finds him amusing and a perfect gentlemen. Soon, to the surprise of many, they start dating. They like each other and blah blah blah, but their friends keep questioning the relationship and giving them self-doubt. Kirk is constantly underestimated by his friends. Molly is constantly reminded that she only went out with him in the first place because he is safe. And so the story goes, it twists it turns but in the end it straightens out.  Its as simple as that :P.
The acting was good the casting was also right. "Nate Torrence" who played the part of Kirks friend Devon acted beautifully. To be honest there isn't much in the move apart form the theme that clicks for most of the people. The movie is funny and it is rated PG 13. All in all a good movie to watch on a lazy weekend.

Best Line in the movie: "I'm sick of all you guys pretending like you know where I'm coming from. None of you know what I'm going through right now".

Girls: i have no idea
Sentimental Guys:.. Yes! .. you will laugh and you will cry ... and you will enjoy
High on Testosterone Guys: hahahaha .... no comments
Lonely Guys/Girls: Yeah go ahead
Kids: ...i am omitting your category from the next review ..........

Note of Caution: lolx ........ You will rate yourself out of 10 after watching this movie..

A Walk to Remember (2002)

Sweet November (2001)

Title: Sweet November (2001)
Cast: Keanu Reeves, Charlize Theron and Jason Isaacs
Directed By: Pat O'Connor
Running Time: 2hr
Genre: Drama | Romance | Loss

The Plot is that Nelson (Keanu Reeves) has a very successful advertising career he is very devoted to his job and becomes a workaholic. While taking a driving test one day he meets Sara (Charlize Theron) who is a very different carefree woman. Nelson causes her to miss out on taking the test and now she starts stalking him. One thing leads to another and Nelson ends up living with her through a November that will change his life forever.

Okay guys enough of the plot let get in to the real business of critiquing and appreciating the flick. To me everything in the movie felt like everyone was playing safe just to break even. The plot, the cast the direction .... there was nothing amazing or brilliant for me. A typical love story with the only twist that the woman Sara offers to change Nelson in to a better caring human being in just one month and that too in the month of November, probably because they wanted to bring in the spirit of Thanks Giving with the story line. Acting wise it was so so. Keaun Reeves was a bad cast because he has a stone cold expression-less face and i think they needed someone to express the emotions. Charlize Theron, well i think she tried her best to fit in the role but for the 1st half of the movie, until it was mentioned that she had cancer, she was out of it, In the latter part i think she did fine.
The memorable characters and scenes in this movie were the cute little dog Awwwwww :), the colourful scarf which i gotta get one myself and lastly the acting of Jason Isaacs who i regard very highly especially when he is speaking in the Irish/Scottish accent that always mesmerises me :P.

All in all ... a safe movie to watch if you are in the mood to get emotionally high..

Girls: you will love it
Sentimental Guys:.. Christmas came early guys ...
High on Testosterone Guys: Sorry Mate
Lonely Guys/Girls: Yeah go ahead
Kids: ...Not for you.......

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)

Title: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Cast: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson,
Directed By: Chris Columbus
Running Time: 2hrs. 32 min
Genre: Fantasy | Adventure | Family

This is from where it all started. The anticipation for this movie was really high because the story book had already been a hit and there was too much pressure on the director and the cast to deliver. Also people were expecting to watch the same story, events and places.

The cast of the movie was almost perfect although we did feel that Danial Radcliffe had too much of a nerdy look but as the franchise evolved so did Radcliffe. The special effects were spot on the scenery was awesome. From the acting's point of view the younger inexperienced cast was a little disappointing but maybe we were expecting too much from them. It was difficult to summarize the whole book in 159 mins of screenplay but we think that the main events were pretty much covered. The most memorable part is the giant Troll fighting scene and the sight of Hogwarts.
The role of Dumbledore was beautifully played by the late Richard Harris, it was sad that he was alive only there for the first two parts. The film also stars with Rupert Grint and Emma Watson as Harry's best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.

Bye Bye Harry Potter

Wonder Boys (2000)

Title: Wonder Boys
Cast: Michael Douglas, Robert Downey Jr., Katie Holmes and Tobey Maguire
Directed By: Curtis Hanson
Running Time: 1hr. 07 min
Genre: Drama | Comedy | Writers

The movie title "Wonder Boys" gives little away about the story. No it is not a story of little boys playing football or genius orphans, the movie is about a struggling divorced writer professor who is struggling to find purpose in his writing and his love life and it is through his student that he finds it.
The main role is performed by Michael Douglas and my word what a performance. Although the movie did win an Oscar for Bob Dylan's song hopefully it would be remembered for Douglas's acting more than anything. If it were me i would have nominated Douglas for an Oscar for his acting.
The star studded cast also includes Robert Downing Jr., who performs the role of a struggling gay editor/publisher, young and beautiful Katie Holmes and fresh face of Tobey Maguire.
A really nice movie to watch. Michael Douglas, hats off to you for truing down Katie Holmes moves on you and for your fine acting sir. Young Tobey played his part well and Robert Downing Jr. was amazing and funny as always.
A very good movie, M.A.D has no problem recommending it to you folks. TC enjoyyyyyyy.
Continuing with the M.A.D culture, the recommendations for different mood genre are

Girls:  will enjoy it.
Sentimental Guys: Its for you guys too.
High on Testosterone Guys: You will kill me if i recommend it to you guys ....
Lonely Guys/Girls: Definitely for you people ....
Kids: ...May be some other day kids. ...

Tristan + Isolde (2006)

Title: Tristan + Isolde
Cast: James Franco, Sophia Myles, Rufus Sewell and Rufus Sewell
Directed By: Kevin Reynolds
Running Time: 1hr. 25 min
Genre: Action | Adventure | Drama

Hmm so young James Franco held the movie together otherwise it was a weak story. The Irish scenery was like a fresh breeze in the movie apart from that the director tried to arouse the emotions through the romantic scenes.

Continuing with the M A D culture, the recommendation for the different mood genre are

Girls = will love it....With young James Franco taking his shirt off who can blame them.
Sentimental Guys = Will like it too
High on Testosterone Guys = Nah its not for u mates :)
Lonely Guys/Girls= Please dont ..... have some mercy on yourself.
Kids = ...Grow up

M A D Rating: 5.5
